What type of media do you cover?
Telecontrol can be applied to all audiovisual media, including TVs, VCRs, DVDs and set-top boxes
(STBs). Telecontrol registers who watches what programmes at what time. It also allows viewers to rate
the quality of the viewed programmes.
What technology is used?
Telecontrol is based on cutting-edge technology and survey techniques. Since its introduction,
Telecontrol has been continuously adapted to the changing social environment, as well as to evolving
individual needs, which means that it is always prepared for future scenarios.
The data stored in the Telecontrol device is usually accessed and transmitted fully automatically via
(GSM/CSD modem) during the night. A central computer evaluates the
collected data, draws up statistics for further processing and provides additional information as required.
Are local TV stations covered as well?
Our geographical coverage includes ALL TV stations Broadcasted in Bulgaria.
At what time your measurments data is available?
We will provide measurements for every day, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The Data is available at 06.55 every morning at the touch of a button. This saves an enormous amount of time, which means that our customers can react to ratings quickly and flexibly. Also, the continual improvement of the measuring time gives a far better understanding of viewer behavior
How do you choose households in GARB?
Households in GARB panel form representative sample of the entire Bulgarian population and are recruited by GFK Bulgaria on scientific base. Every year GFK Bulgaria is making sample monitoring, where are reflected the changes related to Signal reception, Age, Education and all criteria’s on which households have been chosen.
How many households are taking part in GARB panel?
GARB is formed by representative sample from 750 households, and guarantee rating data from minimum 700 households; 50 samples are buffer (needed to assure the sample number difference in case of technological, personal or metrological problems).
Do GARB represents rating data from digital television and since when?
Since it enter into Bulgarian media market at November 2006, GARB is measuring digital television, including Bulsatcom, TotalTV and free satellite. From 2008 GARB is also measuring digital-cable television.
What technology is used for digital television measurement?
GARB is measuring digital television by two ways:
- With additional Set-top Box (Dreambox 7020) – we place it into households using Bulsatcom, TotalTV or free satellite. The Dreambox is additional device put on the place of the Set-top Box. Using the Dreambox we are able to record digital codes of watched program, which are later recognized by TC device.
- Wit SIP Adapter – we put it into households on digital-cable television, but SIP is able to measure all kinds of digital television. SIP adapter is additional electronical component, placed inside Telecontrol device, and by it the device is able to ‘read’ TV channel banner, which is showing up on TV after program change.
The above-mentioned technology (Telecontrol device + SIP adapter) is able to measure all kinds of digital television, no matter of the used Set-top Box.
